“A Sweet and Selfless Soul

Obituary

Monita Ann Westbrook

Our hearts are broken with the loss of our beautiful Monita.

Monita was born in Portsmouth, VA in 1966. She was the 2nd daughter and 3rd child of Dean and Norma Morrison.

Monita was an extraordinarily sweet and selfless soul, always putting others above herself.

She loved life.  She loved her children, Amanda and Thomas. Always beaming and proud to share their latest achievement or recent adventure.  She loved her career as a flight attendant at American Airlines which allowed her to travel, explore and spend time with friends and family around the globe. She was always calling or texting to keep everyone informed. Those conversations will be missed by many people.

Monita was very talented musically. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed playing her piano.

Monita had many friends from many different places and all walks of life. She didn’t know a stranger because her kind and empathetic personality befriended all.

We are all the lucky ones to have had her as a friend, a sister, a daughter or mom. She will be missed beyond words!

Monita was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean Fischer Morrison; her uncle, Jim Mullins; her aunt, Barbara Broffman and dear friend, Pamela Davis. Also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Janet Malinowski Fischer and Wilbur Frederick Fischer; and paternal grandparents, Clara Rose Archer Morrison and Harley Ross Morrison. She is survived by her children, Amanda (AZ) and Thomas (MN); her father, Dean (MN); brother, Ron and wife Cindy (GA), sister Jeanne Oothuizen and husband Theo (TX); brother, Bradley (MN); her aunts, Carol Mullins (PA), Karen Neighbor (OH), Brenda Christy and her husband Ted (OH); her uncles Kenny Morrison and his wife Theresa (OH), Terry Morrison and his wife Lina (WA); her nieces and nephews, Michael, Emily, Anna, Jimmy, Casey, Jacob, Ronan and Liam, cousins, many friends and colleagues.

We know Monita will be watching over us until we meet again.
